Oh, those are just the peanuts

A man walks into a bar just after opening time. The tables are freshly wiped and there is a tin of peanuts at the center of every table. There was no one there but the bartender. The man sits down and immediately he hears, "Nice haircut." "Great shoes!" "Love the tie!" But there is no one there but the bartender. The man says wildly, "Who said that?" The bartender looks at him and smiles, "Oh, those are just the peanuts. They're complimentary."
